first_imgPaddy McGrath will be a key man for Ardara in their Donegal SFC quarter-final against Naomh Conaill. In 2009, old foes Naomh Conaill and Ardara faced each other in the Donegal SFC quarter-final, it was expected that Glenties would dispose of their rivals at ease, but that’s not how it panned out.Ardara took Naomh Conaill to the pin of their collar and forced the game into a replay. In the subsequent replay, after sixty minutes the two sides still couldn’t be separated so the game was brought into extra-time. Naomh Conaill eventually won through in the end in what was a truly epic two-game club championship series.Five years have passed since that encounter, and since then Naomh Conaill have won a Donegal SFC, they defeated Killybegs in 2010, and also reached the Ulster Final that season.Naomh Conaill under the stewardship of Paddy Campbell have ambitions of taking the Dr Maguire cup back to Glenties. With Anthony Thompson, Dermot Molloy and Dara Gallagher at their disposal they have the firepower to do so. Ardara were unlucky not to reach the Donegal SFC final last year, after being narrowly defeated by one point by eventual champions Glenswilly. They’ll be hoping they can go one better this year, and would love to send their local rivals tumbling out of the championship and book a semi-final spot. They’ve enjoyed a consistent season, they’re a consistent team, and have a great championship pedigree.Naomh Conaill are expected to beat Ardara on Saturday, but the Ardara men will have something to say about that.It wouldn’t be surprising of this game needed another replay to decide the winner. The game is at Tir Chonaill Park, Donegal Town, with throw-in at 4pm.It’s going to be close and with a lot at stake, it’s hard to pick a winner.Naomh Conaill have greater experience in big matches, so they might just shade it.VERDICT – NAOMH CONAILL DONEGAL SFC QUARTER-FINAL PREVIEW: BITTER RIVALS ARDARA AND NAOMH CONAILL ALL SET FOR CRUCIAL CLASH was last modified: October 17th, 2014 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:ArdaraDonegal SFCDonegal SFC PreviewGAANaomh ConaillnewsSportlast_img read more

These extraordinary vessels will be delivered in 2018 and 2019.The two most influential Norwegian polar pioneers from the era when the company began have received the honour of lending their name to these incredible ships. The first, Roald Amundsen, is an iconic figure in history being the first man to plant a flag on the South Pole and the second, Fridtjof Nansen, skied across Greenland 128 years ago.Damian Perry CEO of Cox and Kings, specialist operator of Bentours and GSA of Hurtigruten said “I am so thrilled that Bentours and Hurtigruten are in a strategic alliance with shared values and shared purpose to deliver extraordinary travel experience and revolutionise the way people explore.”The state of the art Scandinavian design can attributed to the collaboration of design from Rolls-Royce and the famous Norwegian yacht designer Espen Øino. The direction of design has revolved around modernity, prime quality and comfort. The interior of the new vessel is inspired by nature and will remind travellers of the picturesque landscapes that surround them. Clean, fresh and simplistic Scandinavian design will be reached with natural and predominantly Norwegian material.Bentours along with Hurtigruten don’t take guests cruising, they take them exploring. “The new vessels will enhance the experience of our customers. Bentours and Hurtigruten together are 100% customer focused and understand travelling to such memorising and unique destinations requires that special and tailor-made touch” said Perry.Getting up close and personal to nature is the motivation behind such expeditions. This is assisted with large observation platforms on several decks for guests. As well as six out of ten cabins will have their own balcony; two out of ten will be suites. The vessels will have three restaurants with menus reflecting local flavours and destinations. A special pool deck will include infinity pools, jacuzzis and bars. The new vessels “Roald Amundsen” and “Fridtjof Nansen” will showcase the latest environmentally forward technology. With a total reduction in fuel consumption and hence CO2-emissions, assisted by the construction of the hull and effective use of electricity on board, will reduce emissions from the ships by 20 percent. This will receive an outcome of electric propulsion for 15-30 minutes a reality and substantially longer for ships to come, incredibly benefiting the environment and for the guests on board as they know the superb nature around them is being protected. Now sailing perfectly silently along the ice edge in the Arctic or Antarctica or along the coast of the Amazon has now been made even better by the environmental leader in Arctic exploration, Hurtigruten.MV “Roald Amundsen” and MV “Fridtjof Nansen”First of Hurtigruten’s new class of specially constructed exploration ships for voyages in polar waters.Designed by Rolls Royce and are constructed by Kleven Yards.Strengthened hulls for traversing iceThe ships will feature innovative Scandinavian designs, large observation platforms, infinity pools – and several other yet to be disclosed expedition featuresNumber of passengers: 530Number of cabins: 265Dimensions (exterior): Length 140 meters, width 23,6 meters, height 29 metersDepth: 5,3 metersAdapted also for the service route along the Norwegian coastAbout the hybrid technologyMakes fully electric propulsion an option for shorter periods of timeNew battery technology contributes to a significant reduction of CO2 from shipsNew solutions will contribute to a 20 percent reduction of fuel consumption. Digital transformation is the cornerstone upon whi

first_imgDigital transformation is the cornerstone upon which Microsoft’s announcement at today’s kickoff of the company’s Ignite conference were all about.Devices already outnumber users there are for them, and Microsoft sees security, intelligence and the cloud platform as key pieces that will facilitate that transformation.“With an ever-evolving and increasingly complex cyber threat landscape, security has to be top of mind for us all,” wrote Judson Althoff, executive vice president of Microsoft’s worldwide commercial business, in a blog post. “We must outpace evolving threats and provide countermeasures that protect the corporate network on every front and every device.”Today, Microsoft announced Windows Defender Application Guard, this one built into the Microsoft Edge browser to “insulate Windows 10 from untrusted browser session,” Althoff wrote. For Office 365, Microsoft announced Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection and Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection, enabling threat intelligence sharing between Windows and Office 365. Microsoft is also introducing Office 365 Threat Protection, which monitors millions of activities and surfaces transactions that are anomalies so real and potential threats can be identified and responded to more quickly. For enterprises that need protection for employees’ personal devices and the applications and Web services they use, Microsoft announced Secure Productive Enterprise, to become available Oct. 12. This product offers Microsoft’s most advanced security updates and features. The second key component of digital transformation is getting office workers to use tools that give them the ability to collaborate on documents and PowerPoint presentations, surface and display business intelligence, use and share video, and more. To that end, Microsoft today announced additions to Office 365, to which new features and updates are deployed before they may or may not be built into the on-premises SharePoint Server.Among those new features is Tap for Word and Outlook. At a demo last night by David Alexander, senior product marketing manager for Office 365, he showed how, when a user is looking to share a table or reuse content from a previous document, a list of relevant documents and presentations culled by Microsoft Graph is populated to facilitate in a new document or e-mail the easy importation of content into it.In addition, Microsoft announced QuickStarter for PowerPoint and Sway, which are templates pre-populated with images and text suggestions to help users make better presentations more quickly. And, a new feature called Maps will enable Excel users to generate visualizations from spreadsheet data. For instance, Microsoft could build a spreadsheet listing the hometowns of all Ignite attendees, and then Maps would generate a map of the world color-coded by location density.Microsoft believes the foundation for the digital transformation in business is the cloud. Microsoft claims that more than 85% of the Fortune 500 use its technologies as they need to scale their applications and data, as well as deploy applications across platforms securely and with real-time analytics. “IT professionals have a huge opportunity to lead their businesses through this exciting time and to turn these disruptive technologies into a supercharged engine—not just for growth, efficiency and opportunity, but for transformation and innovation as well,” Althoff wrote.last_img read more

While Kuzzle is based out of France it used CES a

first_imgWhile Kuzzle is based out of France, it used CES as a platform to expose the solution to the United States market. Kuzzle’s mission is to enable global banks, media publishers, and healthcare companies to speed up their digital transformation initiatives by ensuring developers don’t have to waste time building their entire web apps, mobile apps, IoT apps or even middleware components entirely from scratch. The platform backend development can consume up to 60 percent of an overall project, the company said. “Once they break free of developing the backend for their next-generation apps, digital product teams will be able to fully enhance their customers’ experience with an eye towards growing their business,” said Le Conte. “Having received an incredible amount of praise and feedback, I am proud to drive the international development of this project, which demonstrates our ability to offer the next generation of innovative real time IoT and digital products.”Other features include: a scalable server, multi-protocol API, an admin console, and a set of plugins designed for real-time pub/sub and geospatial queries. Backend platform provider Kuzzle wants to boost IoT app development with the release of its new solution: Kuzzle Backend. The company recently unveiled the solution at the Consumer Electronics Show last week. The backend solution focuses on IoT development, and is designed to reduce the time it takes to build IoT apps by 40 percent, according to the company. “We believe developers should not have to redo the same complex and costly backend tasks with every new project: setup databases, search indexes, API, notifications, realtime engine, geofencing & IoT capabilities,” the company wrote on its website. The backend platform enables a wide variety of industries to bring their digital products from inception to market in weeks instead of months, according to Kuzzle. The platform includes real-time, multi-device, multi-protocol, geo-tracking, geo-fencing, security, device provisioning and user authentication features. It supports web apps and hybrid or native mobile apps as well as IoT projects. “Our innovative backend solution revolutionizes the world of development and is a perfect solution to face today’s digital transformation challenges,” said Jacques Le Conte, CEO of Kuzzle.last_img read more
