PCB issues apology for ‘pre-planned’ tweet after Sarfaraz Ahmed sacked as Test captain

first_imgThe Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has come under severe criticism on social media after posting a GIF which seemed like the board was poking fun at outgoing Test and T20I captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, moments after the latter was sacked from the national team. The PCB, however, later apologized for the said tweet. The post and the GIF which has since been deleted by the PCB was uploaded on Twitter prompting angry reactions from cricket fans. After being targetted heavily in the comments section, the PCB issued an apology saying that the timing of the post was ‘wrong’.Here is @TheRealPCB tweet moments after Sarfaraz was sacked. Classy. Coming soon after the ex-captain’s sacking, it should suffice to say that the tweet seemed to be in poor taste at least.”The PCB apologies for this post and accepts the timing of it was wrong. However, it has been not made clear whether Sarfaraz will continue as the ODI captain or not as Pakistan’s next 50-over assignment isn’t until July next year. The wicketkeeper-batsman has also been dropped from the side ahead of Australia tour and has been asked by the PCB to regain form in domestic cricket before, in order to be a part of the side in the future. Also Read | Azhar Ali and Babar Azam to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as Pakistan Test and T20I captainsAlso Read | Did Sarfaraz Ahmed also deserve to be sacked as Pakistan ODI captain?last_img read more
