Pellegrini: No Kompany regrets

first_img Pellegrini is confident other players can step up to fill the void. He said: “We have played the whole season with a lot of injuries. “Now we have Yaya – we’ve had Kompany, Aguero, (Samir) Nasri. “We were the only team that continued in the four competitions because we had an important squad and a lot of those players played well. “He’s an important player, one of the most important we have in our team. “But we have a squad and must replace him in this moment. I am sure we are going to do it with no problem.” The loss at the weekend left City trailing Liverpool by seven points and Chelsea by five, but with six games to play compared to their rivals’ four. Sunderland are the opponents for the first of those extra fixtures as they visit the Etihad Stadium for a game postponed due to inclement weather in February. City’s destiny may be out of their hands, but Pellegrini has warned plenty can yet happen in the race. The Chilean said: “Of course it is possible Liverpool can drop points, or Chelsea, or our team also. “Any team can drop points every week. In the Premier League all the games are close and it’s not easy to go and win.” But given the normally reliable Kompany’s importance to the side, and the player’s declaration of fitness, Pellegrini has no doubt the right decision was made. Pellegrini said: “He started the game because he is the captain. “He made all the proof before the game, he said he was okay and the doctor said that, so I don’t regret that. “But I don’t like to analyse individual performances with the media. “I talk with the players and when we win or lose, it is the responsibility of the whole team.” Kompany is fit to continue as City look to get back to winning ways at home to Sunderland on Wednesday. Top scorer Sergio Aguero is also available after returning from a five-game absence with a hamstring injury as a substitute at Anfield. But key midfielder Yaya Toure will be missing after he was ruled out for up to two weeks with the leg injury that forced him out of the action early against the Reds. Kompany was at fault for all three goals as Pellegrini’s men were beaten 3-2 by the Barclays Premier League leaders in a pulsating clash at Anfield. The Belgian’s below-par performance raised questions about his readiness for action after he had suffered a training-ground injury scare on the eve of the match. Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has no regrets about playing captain Vincent Kompany in Sunday’s potentially damaging loss at title rivals Liverpool. Press Associationlast_img read more

Brandon Ingram expects to play Wednesday at OKC, but Lonzo Ball is doubtful

They looked lost without their two young leaders and it’s clear they need the duo to on the court to have sustained success defensively.“Obviously, we want them both back,” Walton said following a light practice at Chesapeake Arena, “but, we’ll take one for now. Like we say, it’s other people’s job to step up when guys go down.”Ball continues to be hobbled by the sore left knee he first experienced after the Lakers win at Dallas on Saturday, while Ingram has missed the last six quarters with a sprained left ankle.Ingram has averaged 16.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists in his second season. After going through Tuesday’s practice, he said he expected to play against the Thunder.“Obviously I’ll see how it feels in the morning,” he said, “but I feel confident about tomorrow.” OKLAHOMA CITY – Brandon Ingram was back on the court Tuesday, participating in full court drills, running sprints and generally setting the stage for him to return to the Lakers lineup Wednesday against the Thunder.Lonzo Ball is an entirely different matter.“He didn’t practice today,” coach Luke Walton said of the rookie point guard, “so I wouldn’t expect him to play tomorrow.”Ball is listed as doubtful to play against the Thunder, while all signs are pointing to Ingram making his return. Newsroom GuidelinesNews TipsContact UsReport an Errorcenter_img Ingram’s return should help the Lakers on the offensive end, but they will still miss Ball’s vision and defensive prowess, a surprising bonus in his up and down rookie season.“We need to do a better job of making a concerted effort to make the extra pass,” Walton said, “to push the ball ahead – all those things that Zo helps us do as a team. We have to take those responsibilities on us as a group and go out there and play the same way.”The Lakers will face the Thunder for the first time since their 37-point loss on Jan. 3, in which Paul George, Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook combined for 65 points.“We’re trying to build something where we can be really good again for a long time,” Walton said. “I know that takes time. It takes failing. It takes coming together as a group. It is challenging going through it. You want to win now. You want instant gratification. AMC A Breaking Bad movie is happening and its com

first_imgAMC A Breaking Bad movie is happening and it’s coming to Netflix. That much we know. Everything else — the plot, the cast, the menu of the craft services breakfast — is being kept under wraps, officially. But more talkative members of the show’s cast have been dropping hints about what to expect. Aaron Paul noted that the movie “has to star Jesse” and not W, for obvious reasons, while RJ Mitte W, Jr. recently told the Wrap that he’s “not a part of” the film. He did, however, share what “Flynn” is up to these days: “W escapes capture, Jesse came back to W after the whole shootout, W and Jesse disappear for five years, and W Jr. is still living with his sister, almost in like DEA housing. Then W Jr. pretty much joins the DEA and is hunting after his father. He kind of takes Hank’s role where Hank left off. My idea is that he’s trying to go out, find what happened to Hank and go after Jesse and W.” Mitte’s pitch assumes that W not only survived the events of the series finale he didn’t… or did he, but that he also escaped the authorities and was able to patch things up with Jesse, the same Jesse whose girlfriend he could saved from choking on her vomit, “but I didn’t.” Maybe W and Jesse are in couples counseling for the five years they’re on the lam? Honestly, I would watch that. Via the Wrap Source: UPROXX.COMlast_img read more
